A lantern in the mist

The fog at Ghost Light Point looks like a mountain of mashed potatoes. Captain Pip peers into it. “If that is dinner, someone has forgotten the gravy.”

A warm little light blinks near the rocks. There should be a lantern on the keeper’s hook, but the hook is empty. Somewhere below, something makes a wet, squeaky SQUEEP.
